New Years Eve Preview

Only one more day left in 2010, and here in Portland people are preparing to wring out every last drop of awesome out of it. We've laid out our top picks for the best events all night, peruse at your leisure after the jump!
And remember kids, whatever you end up doing, if you end up going a little wild this NYE, just keep this in mind: Go balls out, because regrets are for the weak and nobody is going to remember anyway.

First of all, Trimet announced every MAX line in the city is running until 3 AM, and all transportation is free after 8pm. So... Party Bus for everybody! Wahoo! If you don't make it to any of these other fun things, at least you can bring a flask onto the bus and hobnob with your fellow Volcano Citizens all night.

The accessory moguls of Sticks & Stones in conjunction with the Portland Design Collective have stepped up to be the official priming location on the west side. RSVP on Facebook to get 5$ off the 10$ cover, which admits you in to drink your fill of some of the 8 kegs they have lined up. You also get one raffle ticket for the chance to win one of 30 rings throughout the night.
We reccommend starting your night off here, as they've got Housefire playing, as well as She's on Drugs and Club Crooks on the decks.
21+ $10-$5 with RSVP From 6-10 pm at the Portland Design Collective, 902 SW Morrison. On the Library stop of both the MAX line and the Portland Streetcar.

If you're feeling this crowd and want to continue onwards, head north a bit to the Crown Room after that and check out Reva DeVito, Doo Doo Funk Allstars, and DJ Zimmie. Even if they didn't have the word "funk" in their name, you'd still kinda know they'd be a fun as hell funk band, right? Besides those jazz/funk/soul bands, the Crown Room is boasting a sushi bar, more giveaways from Sticks & Stones, and a midnight champagne toast.
21+ $10 from 9:30pm - 2am at the Crown Room, 205 NW 4th. In Chinatown inbetween Davis & Everett

If you're not 21 and haven't wormed your way into finding a decent houseparty, then Backspace is for you. The Shaky Hands, Boy Eats Drum Machine and Vanimal will keep you dancing with rad jams all night. Its all awesome local indie rock-pop from 9 to midnight.
All Ages, $10 from 9pm-midnight at Backspace, 115 NW 5th. Chinatown inbetween Davis & Couch

Up at the awesome new venue The Waterheater we have an event we're very excited about: The KPSU + Apes Tapes New Years party! This is going to be jampacked with awesome bands on the Apes Tapes label -- XDS, Spesus Christ, Adventures! with Might, and Prescription Pills. They just released their Mixed Ape No. 2 so that will likely be available as well. Besides that stacked-as-hell lineup, the Waterheater will have their awesome deck open, fire pit roaring, cash bar, beautiful people, and all around merrymaking.
All Ages, $5/$4 with PSU ID from 9pm -2am at The WaterHeater, 750 N Fremont. Fremont & Albina, can't miss it!

Over at the Holocene is another dance-fiesta that should be tougher to get into, seeing as how they already sold out of tickets twice. They're holding 150 more at the door at 8pm however, so don't worry. Strength will be descending on the Holocene for what is sure to be a boogie down brou-ha-ha. Along with the boys from Strength, you've got We Like Cats, a dub/reggae supergroup comprised of members of Miracles Club, White Rainbow and Inca Ore performing their experimental cat-themed jams and a slew of some of the best DJs in the city - DJ Beyondadoubt, DJ Copy, DJ Zac Eno, and Sex Life DJs. Benoit Pioulard will begin the night to end the year with his ambient ghost-sounds.
21+, $15 from 8pm to 2:30am at Holocene, 1001 SE Morrison. Next door to Sassy's!
