Interview this way --->

1) Long Beach City Kids*- how did you guys come up with this name?
Well it basically describes us as accurately and, paradoxically, as generally as possible. We felt like kids when we started to make this kind of music, because, well, we were. I've been producing in my bedroom since I was twelve years old, and Lucas has been spinning vinyl since around the same age. Long Beach is where we met and our group was born. Hence, it's significance.

2) How did the two of you meet and come to start making music together?
We met in college at the dormitories roughly three years ago. Then we moved out into an apartment together so that we could throw huge parties.

3) What kind of music did you grow up on?
Mostly hip hop and funk, lots of classics. Tons of DITC records, Eric B & Rakim, Public Enemy, Das FX, Nasty NaS.. and I still bump Illmatic because you just have to, Gangstarr, Cali Agents, Kurupt, Daz, Dre, etc. My mother was a singer in a funk band for many years, and so she always had a lot of funk vinyls lying around. My dad had funk records too, and some classic rock jams, so I had access to a lot of Parliament, Tower of Power, Funkadelic, Cream, Zeppelin, Beatles, Cheryl Lynn.. also Italian opera and baroque piano music from my grandmother like Chopin, Scriabin, Rachmaninoff, and Schubert.. haha what a weird list of acts but basically a culmination of all this scored my childhood and adolescence.

4) Your earlier songs, like “Giallo,” have a very Justice feel to them. What instigated the transformation from these heavy bangers to your more recent disco-influenced songs, like “Start”?
Well it was a transition from my first project, called Semi Auto (looking back, it was awful) which was more like.. harder banging thrash electro type stuff. But both of us quickly got over that and wanted more funk, so we started making disco house and that's evolved into whatever it is that you call our music now.

5) What equipment and programs do you guys use?
FL Studio and some old school synthesizers and newer keyboards + VSTs. We love the microKORG, DX-7, Yamaha SY-22, All Moogs. Every keyboard is different and exciting for us.. they're all fun. Will be getting an MPC5000 soon to incorporate in our live show...

5) What artist(s) is on heavy rotation for you guys right now?
The Phantom's Revenge has been running through my head for the past two years straight. But besides that, its Surkin, Louis La Roche, Silver Disco, my man LA ZEBRA!, everything coming out on Mozzarella Recs actually, Quinten 909, Fake Blood, Shadow Dancer, Strip Steve, Boys Noize, Aeroplane, Fare Soldi, Mr. Oizo (always in heavy rotation), Bit Funk, Breakbot, Moonchild, Cecile & Venice, Phonat, Def Starr, Cassian, the list goes on... and I'm probably leaving out some huge influences but there are just too many to note.

6) What are your plans for the future? Eps? Tours?
We have an EP coming out this summer on a french record label called On The Fruit with remixes from Bit Funk, Fare Soldi, Moonchild, The Phantom's Revenge, and Def Starr. So we're very pumped for that. No tours in the works for now, just various shows here and there.

7) Suppose you have an unlimited amount of money, what’s the ideal concert you would put on?
That would be a worldwide tour via spacecraft, broadcasting our music 24/7 down to Earth. We're researching this as we speak; we just need some billionaire investors and we're good. Lucas is drawing up a little model sketch.. it's a jumping-off point.

8) Name your favorite song on Daft Punk’s “Discovery”
Er.. just one? I guess.... Crescendolls would have to be my favorite. But I love them all equally, so it doesn't really make sense.

9) Kobe or LeBron?
LEBRON! all the way! I'm from Sacramento originally, as well as a hardcore Kings fan, so hating Kobe and everything he stands for is a must. Besides, Tyreke Evans is going to eventually crush both of them...

10) Describe your creative processes? How do you guys get yourselves prepared to make a song?
I drink a bunch of coffee and Red Bull, jump around for a half hour listening to gay 90's dance hits, and then I sit and think: how can I make this track sound as terrible as possible, and then save it, miraculously, like a hero? That's the basic process.

11) Who would you rather be locked in a room with for a week- Conan Obrien or Megan Fox?
Are there windows in the room?

12) Sex vs. head?
All of the above.
