Straight Up

Alright, I'ma get right to business so you can get back to your blazy Sunday. And we are gonna get blazy on this one ladies and gentlemen so sit back, relax, and let's light that fire. Oh, and it's the $uper Bowl as well so grab a drink will ya?
First up, Matthew Kyle. Now I've been meaning to do a post on this guy for a while but for now I'll just let you take a dip in some of my favorites from this SlowJamSexMaster. More from this guy to come, I guarantee it.

If you haven't already heard of B. Bravo, well here we go. Hailing from that place known as The Bay Area and dropping some great beats like none other.
B. Bravo - Swing My Way RMX (Couldn't embed this bad boy, but you'll wanna check this one out.)
B. Bravo - Midnite (My fave and the one that got me obsessed.)

A more funkafied "New Beat" from Toro Y Moi's LP Underneath the Pine. Mark February 22nd on your Calendar people.

Alright, last but certainly not least. Some NW Sol for ya. This kind of honest rap has got a great West-Coast feel to it and gives me confidence/excitement for the future of hip-hop. Look out for the Prince of Seattle in the near future. Let it flow.

That's a wrap, go Packers.

Tuesday Chillwave

Got a few chill tracks for you chillers to chill out to on this fine grey Tuesday. The first one is a remix by new VC favorite Teen Daze. Oddly enough, it sounds like a mix between Toro Y Moi and Venetian Snares. Chillwave melodies with IDM/experimental style beats. A must have.

Next we have a bangin' Cosmonaut Gretchko remix of an awesome Japanese band that has been around for a decade: Capsule. It's amazing how good Japanese vocals sound over chillwave synths, it just sounds right.
Capsule - I Wish You (Cosmonaut Grechko Bootleg) by Cosmonaut Grechko

Finally, get some Dougie in your system. If you don't know how to do the dance you can either get taught or ignore the phenomenon completely because it is utterly inconsequential and wholly uninteresting. But this mashup is pretty cool i guess.

Toro y Moi's new angle

Toro y Moi has a new single out and it sounds different than his usual beats. Its sounds a lot more pop-rock revival in the vein of Pearl Harbor, Vivian Girls, etc than the chillwave drawl of Causers of This. The change is good. Toro y Moi rocked the Hawthorne Theater with Caribou last week, too. Really bangin.

Also, we have a lot of videos from Sasquatch coming up here of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Miike Snow and The Very Best, to name a few. This is a one second clip of the three day megafest of fun:

In the wise words of Eiffel 65, "Move your body"

Yeah, so Uffie's new track is kind of hot shit. And it made me want to move parts of my body. It also made me want to share some other stuff that has the same effect on me that I've had saved up for the previous weeks.

So, the new song. Having Pharrell on the track = smart move. Having a bootybangin' bass beat similar to Pop the Glock to remind people why they originally listened to Uffie, also a smart move. Also changing up her usual voice/cadence a little bit to show that not only is she more original, but also is more diverse than that harlot Ke$ha = you get the picture. Her album, Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans, has been 'about to come out' for like 3 years, but hopefully the current release of 'spring 2010' will hold true.

And as promised, here are some other songs that'll get you moving, in some way or another.

Feel Good - Prod. by S.O.V..mp3

Fever Ray-I'm Not Done (RD REMIX).mp3

And as a bonus, semi-related to Mitch's post, is Toro y Moi's wonderful take on a Tegan & Sara song.

Pic related: this will hopefully be you after listening to these songs.

Les Sins? Lessins? Toro y Moi's other band?

Whatever you want to call it, Chaz Bundick AKA Toro y Moi has a dancey Disco-House side project that's guaranteed to please, especially when mixed with the occasional warm spring day in the Northwest. The track "Lina" is just catchy enough that the 90s House style repetition is welcome, not tiresome.

Les Sins - Lina

Bundick's music has an undeniable warmth to it, can't wait to hear what he comes out with next.

Bonus: Another one of Chaz' fuzzy-warm (upbeat) jams.
