Oh how we've missed you, The Twelves

Over the summer, The Twelves tore it down at the Whiskey Bar here in lovely (and rainy) Portland. If you missed it, don't beat yourself up because we are beating ourselves up for not recording this. Yes, thats Luciano of The Twelves. Yes, thats a Volcano City house party. Yes, it was the most fun I've ever had dancing but don't fret because I've got some new Twelves remixes that'll cheer you right up!

Surprise bitches. It's a new original Twelves production they made for Skyy Vodka. It's a dancey psychedelic tune that'll bring a smile to your face. The Twelves can do no wrong.

Come back to Portland!!

8/4/10

Sunday night kicked ass for two reasons

The first reason:

Luciano Oliveira from The Twelves, RAC, and Remy the Restless played consecutive DJ sets till 3AM at a Portland house party.

The second Reason:

The show happened to be at Volcano City's House.

I wish we had recorded the set itself because I would be listening to it right now. Luciano has a way of blending songs together with The Twelves' disco-infused beats which made it hard to stop dancing. This resulted in a sexy sweat lodge of a basement filled with sticky people, and yet somehow Luciano managed to stay cool and collected as he rounded out a 2 hour set at 3:15 in the AM. We already wish we could do last weekend just one more time. LUCIANNNNOOOOOOOO! Please come back and party with VC again soon!

The Twelves are almost here

We all know that the Brazil'z finest, The fucking Twelves will be tearing up the Whiskey Bar this weekend in Portland so to put all you fine Portlanders in the mood for it, here's a live set Luciano (1/2 of the Twelves) did over Valentines day earlier this year. They've done plenty of live mixes before but this one for me takes the cake. It's TWO HOURS LONG. A few good tracks to listen for are a Justin Timberlake remix, Hot Chip remix and of course a Radiohead remix. A few of us were lucky enough to see them last summer in Vancouver BC and it was the most fun I've ever had dancing at a show. Get fucking jacked people. This weekend is going to be EPIC!

(The talking is annoying so just listen to the music)

Lightin' it up...again

Yet another great remix from the up-and-coming Phoenix based electro artist, lightsoverLA, and what else would you have expected? With their last two extremely well put together remixes making it to the top 20 list on Hypem, one gracing the number 1 spot while the other coming one shy of the top spot, there were some high expectations for this one. Enter Crystal Castles new track "Vietnam" from their latest LP, and what they've come up with is a ravey reinterpretation of the song, chopping parts of it up and propelling it even further. As always, it's a great song to throw down on the dancefloor, and we can't wait to to hear more remixes and (hopefully) some new original material. I personally recommend ripping a bowl of the finest Oregon dro and putting this on today. Happy 4/20 y'all.

Crystal Castles - Vietnam (lightsoverla remix)

ps. If you find yourself hanging out in Santa Monica on May 8th, hit up The V-Lounge for one of the best show line-ups I've seen in a while. Twelves, Grum, Short Curcuit, and LightsoverLA. Damn.

p.ps Go 'zers.

NEW Two Door Cinema Club Video + Twelves Remix

Irish indie rockers, Two Door Cinema Club, just came out with a new video for their song Something Good Can Work. I am loving their debut album Tourist History and it may or may not be my favorite album this year thus far (its a LONG year, folks!). Bottom line: it's a solid Indie/Electropop album with many catchy, quality tracks that will easily get stuck in your head. If you haven't already, be sure to go pick up their album however you kids get music these days.

The video brings a feeling that the rain/winter weather is coming to a close and that the sunshine of spring is on the horizon for Portland. Summer definitely needs to come sooner. Or at least SOME SUN.

BONUS:
We LOVE The Twelves. BBC's Radio 1 put it best by calling them "Brazil's answer to Daft Punk". Talk about the best praise ever. Check out their remix of Something Good Can Work along with their other remixes and original tracks.
