RAC's December Mix

The fine young gents of RAC have released a new mix for the month of December. The Portland transplants have combined some of their favorite tracks and a multitude of their own stellar remixes of electro artists such as Deadmau5, Empire of the Sun, Boyz Noize and Soulwax. Oh and yesss they threw in my personal favorite, their remix of Penguin Prison's Worse It Gets. Its a pretty great state of the union address for RAC, remixes, and electronic music in general. No download option as of right now, but you can stream it below from their soundcloud.

Well done, fellas! Check the complete tracklisting in the full post if you want, but there are a few fun surprises, so maybe keep it hidden for now.

Empire of the Sun RAC Remix

Another RAC-ATTACK! The guys at RAC just accumulated 400,000 plays on Soundcloud alone. This time they deal their digital delights on Empire of the Sun's Walking on a Dream. Imagine Nick Littlemore and Luke Steele as 8 year olds, riding bikes in the sun-soaked Australian jungles. But instead of bike wheels, they have humming birds.

Also, and I know this is more than two months late, but here's a video I took of Empire of the Sun's set at Lollapalooza 2010. Excuse the shakiness and lack of focus in the footage. You know, drugs and whatnot.

Sunday night kicked ass for two reasons

The first reason:

Luciano Oliveira from The Twelves, RAC, and Remy the Restless played consecutive DJ sets till 3AM at a Portland house party.

The second Reason:

The show happened to be at Volcano City's House.

I wish we had recorded the set itself because I would be listening to it right now. Luciano has a way of blending songs together with The Twelves' disco-infused beats which made it hard to stop dancing. This resulted in a sexy sweat lodge of a basement filled with sticky people, and yet somehow Luciano managed to stay cool and collected as he rounded out a 2 hour set at 3:15 in the AM. We already wish we could do last weekend just one more time. LUCIANNNNOOOOOOOO! Please come back and party with VC again soon!

ANOTHER new RAC remix

Wow, the Remix Artist Collective just won't stop. Here we have RAC's newest endeavor, a laidback gleaming disco remix of The Temper Trap's Sweet Disposition. Check it out and have it cool you off during this weird humid day. I heard Marcus Camby loves it. Go 'Zers.

Speak- Carrie (RAC Remix)

If you're like me, oftentimes you'll listen to a song and imagine in your head how you could remix it. Then, when you set about remixing it, you'll find that it's awful and nothing like you imagined. Or it's just plain awful.

RAC (Remix Artist's Collective), doesn't seem to have this particular problem, as everything they touch seems to turn into gold. The new RAC remix of Speak's "Carrie" continues this trend, as the original song's pop guitar riff is stripped away, and in it's place is put a highly danceable beat, along with the other trademark RAC effects. The result is a brilliant reinterpretation that manages to stay true to the original song. Kudos, RAC.

I'll Just Leave This Here

Sadly, due to circumstances beyond my control. I cannot spend this luvly sunday basking in the precious Portland sunlight. Though the boys at RAC mixing Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros do a damn fine job of simulating it.
